1、 Period 5 Writing; Cultural Corner; Task; Module File 整體設(shè)計 教材分析 This period contains four parts. The first part aims at improving students’ logical thinking by placing random sentences in order. They are also expected to put what they learned into practice, that is, to write a short paragraph ab
2、out health problems. In the next part, they will learn about the health care system of some countries such as Britain, America and Canada. Through the reading of this passage, not only will their reading skills be trained, but they will also reflect on the health care system of our own country and t
3、hus know better about our country. Students are required to prepare a survey about healthy living in Task, which can not only train students’ speaking ability, but also can raise students’ awareness of cooperation. The last part is actually a summary of the whole module, through which students may k

Besides, they can learn more about the health care system of some foreign countries. At the same time, they will consciously compare

13、can be Zhou Kai’s cold. Each student may speak out a sentence for another one to continue with. The purpose of this activity is to train their logical thinking. 4. Write a paragraph about a small health problem that they have had. You may wish to remind them of the following points: (Show the fol
14、lowing on the screen. ) 1. Begin with some information about yourself. 2. Say what the problem was. 3. Explain what you did or what happened. 4. Explain how things ended. →Step 3 Cultural Corner 1. Pre-reading 1)Elicit students’ previous knowledge about the situation of health care in China
15、 by relating the things concerning health care that happened in our real life. For example, you may wish to mention the incident in which a couple tied to each other jumped into the river because they can not afford the expensive medical expenses. 2)Encourage students to discuss the health care sys
16、tem in some other countries such as Britain, America and Canada, which aims to prepare them for the reading of the passage. 2. While reading 1)Ask students to read out the questions that they have to answer. 2)A discussion in pairs to bring out the main idea of each paragraph. Paragraph 1:
17、A general introduction to the health care system. Paragraph 2: The health care system in Britain. Paragraph 3: The health care system of America. Paragraph 4: The characteristics of the health care system in Canada. 3. Post reading 1)Divide students into a few groups and have them discuss th
18、e similarities and differences of the health care system among the three countries, Britain, America and Canada. After the discussion, they are required to fill out the following table. (Show the following table on the screen. ) Country The way to pay Problems Britain the government+ health i

Related language points 1)Health care is free for everyone living in Britain. 對于居住在英國的人來說保健是免費(fèi)的。 living in Britain 為現(xiàn)在分詞短語作定語,可轉(zhuǎn)化為定語從句who lives in Britain。例如: All those coming to the party are

28、out healthy living 1. Students work in groups and think of at least five questions about a healthy life style and do a survey with five other students. You may wish to show them some pictures for help. (Show the following pictures on the screen. ) The questions you may refer to: How much
29、 fruit do you eat? How much sleep do you get? Do you take at least two hours’ exercise a week? Do you eat much fat, for example, fatty meat? Do you eat a lot of sweet things, for example, chocolate? Do you eat fish once a week or more? 2. Put students into groups of five to pool their qu
30、estions, eliminating any repeats, and producing one long questionnaire. They all need a copy of all of the questions. 3. Pair the groups. Within the paired groups, students should pair off and A1 should ask B1 group A’s questions and vice versa, and note the results. 4. The students can then get b
31、ack into their original groups of five, and pool all their results. If you wish, they can present them orally to the rest of the class. →Step 5 Module File This section lists the main areas of language dealt with in this module. You may wish to use it for repetition, and pronunciation revision, o
32、r you may want to give students ten minutes to go through it, ticking the things they are confident they know, putting a question mark next to those things they are not sure of, and a cross next to those they don’t know.
