Teaching steps
1 Bring in authentic brochures to show students the style of this kind of writing .Talk to students about the purpose of writing a brochure .Elicit from students as much information as possible about

c How do you make your brochure look interesting to the readers?
2 Ask students to read the model article on page 102 .Ask students to use the model article and plete the sentence with words from Part A on page 101.
3 Tell students to choose one fashion item .Make them aware of what kind of things their readers might like to read about .Do a class survey to find out the most popular fashion item .
4 In pairs ,students read , check and correct their partner’s draft .As you go around the class, suggest improvements in the use of words, spellings and structures. Provide help and assistance while monitoring.
5 Ask each student to present his / her brochure to the class .Alternatively ,you could ask students to do this in pairs. Ask the class to vote for the best brochure.

1 Background information
Remind students about the purpose of the Checkout section. Continue to develop the strategies introduced in earlier units.

2 Explain the context and instructions for Parts A and B to the students .Give them a time limit .For weaker classes, remind students of the use of the indefinite article before they do Part B . e.g. ‘a(chǎn)’ in front of words starting with consonant sounds and ‘a(chǎn)n’ with vowel sounds .Students may find it difficult to choose between ‘beautiful’ and ‘interesting’ without this clue.
3 Students bring in photographs of themselves and write six sentences about the clothes they were wearing, three true ones and three false ones. Remind students to use the simple past tense.
