There are several reasons that women find it hard to save，says Sarah Pennells，“Even though the gap is closing，women still earn less than men，on average，which makes it harder for them to put money away，”she says. There is also the fact that fewer women in the private sector have access to decent pension schemes，because the kind of industries they work in are less likely to offer them.
