Dog Bark Park Inn If you keep a dog and love animals, then you will definitely become a fan of this hotel. The shape of the hotel reminds you of a dog. Here visitors will find a microwave oven to prepare a simple meal, games, puzzles and books to entertain themselves, an airconditioner and of course a bath. There is no TV set or a phone though. Das Park Hotel You will love the place because it is perfectly adjusted to basic human needs. However, there is one disadvantage to all these. CasAnus Read the name of the hotel attentively and you will easily guess what place exactly you are going to spend your vacation in! The hotel is situated in Kemzeke, Belgium and was designed by Joep van Lieshout. Do not say no to this hotel since it is quite comfortable and nice inside. Hobbit Motel Deep inside we stay kids forever. This is what the creators of the Hobbit Motel kept in mind when they were creating this motel. The Hobbit Motel is located in Woodlyn Park, New Zealand. You will recognize the inn by its blocks it is made of and the green roof covered with a thick layer of grass. C.Its name may come from its appearance. A.The bed. B.The shower. C.Electricity. D.Air conditioning. 根據(jù)第三段中的“The matter is that bathroom facilities are not included in the price”可知,這家旅館的房?jī)r(jià)里不包括洗浴設(shè)施,因此想要洗澡的話(huà),需要另外支付費(fèi)用。 答案:B 3.Which is the best choice for a person who most values comfort? A.The Dog Bark Park Inn. B.Das Park Hotel. C.CasAnus. D.The Hobbit Motel. 根據(jù)第四段中的“Do not say no to this hotel since it is quite comfortable and nice inside”可知,重視舒適度的游客可以選擇入住CasAnus。 答案:C B I am always nervous when I get an email from my parents with “FYI (For Your Information)”. My parents are in their late 70s, and while they are quite healthy for their ages, I worry about what messages they are going to give me. I got such an email in September from my father. He sent an email from my cousin who told that her father, my uncle Reese, had passed away. The news made my mind go blank though I have met him less than a dozen times in my life, because Reese was the first of my parents siblings(兄弟姐妹) to die, and I was simply not ready for that. The memorial service was set in Florida, and I quickly decided I needed to go. I needed to be there for my father, and I needed to go for myself. Reese is about nine years older than my father, and I started to do the math in my head. I know that doesnt make sense, but I will do anything to reason that I still have a lot of time before I will be in my cousins shoes. Reeses memorial service was small with only family and perhaps a dozen of his friends. The funeral was attended by an even smaller number, and then, the family gathered at a nearby bar to look at old photographs found among Reeses possessions when he died. As we drove back to the Orlando International Airport, I thought about how I am not sure what my parents want, not only in their memorial services, but also how they want to be remembered and where they want to be laid to rest. These are going to be difficult conversations, but I know I need to have them. Maybe not right now, but we do need to open the discussion at some point. It may feel too early, but I trust my parents will know that when adult children raise these questions, we do it out of love to honor their lives and their wishes. 4.Why do emails with “FYI” make the author uneasy? A.Shes too busy to read those emails. B.She dislikes her parents nonstop talking. C.They often bring unpleasant news. D.Shes afraid to get bad news about her parents. D 5.How did the author feel about the email from her cousin? A.Disappointed. B.Shocked. C.Confused. D.Annoyed. 依據(jù)文章第二段中的“The news made my mind go blank...because Reese was the first of my parents siblings(兄弟姐妹) to die,and I was simply not ready for that”可知,得知這個(gè)消息后,作者的大腦一片空白,因?yàn)镽eese是她父母的兄弟姐妹中第一個(gè)去世的,作者還沒(méi)有做好準(zhǔn)備。 B 6.What do we know from the third and fourth paragraphs? A.A gettogether was held at home. B.Reeses friends didnt appear. C.Not many people attended the funeral. D.The author hesitated to go to Florida. 依據(jù)文章第四段第二句“The funeral was attended by an even smaller number, and then, the family gathered at a nearby bar to look at old photographs found among Reeses possessions when he died”可知,Reese的葬禮是小規(guī)模的,來(lái)參加的人不多。故選C項(xiàng)。 答案:C 7.What does the author decide to do after the funeral? A.Express her love for her parents bravely. B.Have a talk with her parents about death. C.Value her parents wishes. D.Get everything ready for her parents. 依據(jù)最后一段的內(nèi)容尤其是“These are going to be difficult conversations, but I know I need to have them”可知,參加完葬禮后,在去機(jī)場(chǎng)的途中,作者想了很多,雖然現(xiàn)在與父母談?wù)撍麄兊暮笫聻闀r(shí)過(guò)早,但是很有必要在他們活著的時(shí)候討論這些事情。 In our lives we may have people who need help one way or another. They could be our friends, our colleagues and even our parents. And, of course, if these people do matter in our lives, we want to try our best to help them. __1__ Consider finding someone they look up to. Usually, a proud person thinks highly of themselves, and not too highly of anyone else. __2__ Find this person and get him to go up to the proud person and talk about their unwillingness to accept help from others. Give them advice. By now you may have gotten your proud friend to come to talk to you. Now is the time for giving your proud friend some advice. But how do you give advice to someone who thinks too highly of himself? You can use words like “Dont you think...” “You told me before...” __3__ Improve your approach and strategies as you proceed. Sometimes the proud person may feel angry that youve helped them. __4__ You might just need to accept their roller coaster (過(guò)山車(chē)) of emotions about accepting your help and simply not take it personally, ever. __5__ Two proud people make for a very uncomfortable relationship. Dont be too proud to let this person give a hand to you. Indeed, the moment he does, you owe him and can swiftly remind him of the debt being repaid when you offer him help back! A.Let the proud person help you. B.Help the proud person in a secret way. C.Other times they realize your help counts. D.Then suddenly they reject whatever you offer. E.But how do we help them when theyre too proud to seek help? F.However, most people have at least one person that they respect. G.Try to make it seem like they already have had the solution themselves. 1.解析:本空是個(gè)過(guò)渡句,承接上文的“And,of course,if these people do matter in our lives,we want to try our best to help them”并引出下文。 解析:本段主題句是“Consider finding someone they look up to”,即考慮找個(gè)他們尊敬的人,F(xiàn)項(xiàng)中的“one person”“respect”分別與空后的“this person”及主題句中的“l(fā)ook up to”相呼應(yīng),故選F。 故G項(xiàng)“Try to make it seem like they already have had the solution themselves”(努力讓它看起來(lái)好像是他們自己已經(jīng)有了解決方法)符合語(yǔ)境。 答案:G 4.解析:空前說(shuō)“Sometimes the proud person may feel angry that youve helped them”(有時(shí)驕傲的人可能對(duì)你的幫助感到生氣),空后說(shuō)“You might just need to accept their roller coaster(過(guò)山車(chē)) of emotions about accepting your help...”(你可能只需要接受他們對(duì)于接受你的幫助所懷的過(guò)山車(chē)一樣起伏很大的情緒……),因此空處應(yīng)敘述認(rèn)可幫助的內(nèi)容,故選C項(xiàng)。 根據(jù)下文中的“l(fā)et this person give a hand to you”可知,本段說(shuō)的是讓驕傲的人幫助你。 答案:A Ⅲ. Betty:You dont look well today.
