Having stopped laughing,I took a step forward. My attacker rushed me again. He charged towards me at full speed, attempting to hurt me but in vain. For a second time,I took a step backwards while my attacker paused.I wasn’t sure what to do.After all,it’s just not everyday that one is attacked by a butterfly.I stepped back to look the situation over.My attacker moved back to land on the ground. That’s when I discovered why my attacker was charging me only moments earlier. He had a mate and she was dying. Sitting close beside her,he opened and closed his wings as if to fan her.I could only admire the love and courage of that butterfly in his concern for his mate.He had taken it up on himself to attack me for his mate’s sake (緣故),even though she was clearly dying and I was so large. He did so just to give her those extra few precious moments of life, should I have been careless enough to step on her.His courage in attacking something thousands of times larger and heavier than himself just for his mate’s safety seemed admirable.I couldn’t do anything other than reward him by walking on the more difficult side of the pool.He had truly earned those moments to be with her, undisturbed. Since then,I’ve always tried to remember the courage of that butterfly whenever I see huge barriers facing me. 1.Why did the writer change his direction while walking down a path? A.To get close to a butterfly. B.To look over the bad situation. C.To escape a sudden attack. D.To avoid getting his shoes dirty. 2.What made the man feel funny? A.Making the attacker pause. B.Being attacked by a butterfly. C.Being stepped on by his mate. D.Discovering the energetic butterfly. 3.From this experience the man learned________. A.what he should do when faced with trouble B.people should show sympathy to the weak C.how he should deal with attacks D.people should protect butterflies 4.Which of the following words can best describe the butterfly? A.Careless. B.Amusing. C.Courageous. D.Aggressive. B (xx三明市普通高中畢業(yè)班質(zhì)量檢查) It seems parents have long been right.Going to bed early is key to getting enough sleep and helping teenagers feel_on_top_of_the_world,a new study reported. A lack of sleep among youngsters may cause depression (抑郁) and suicidal (自殺的) thoughts, according to the study by the Columbia University Medical Center. “Our results are in agreement with the theory that a lack of sleep is a risk factor for depression, working with other risk factors through many different possible pathways to the development of this mood disorder,” said lead author James Gangwisch. “Enough quality sleep could therefore be a preventative measure against depression and a treatment for depression,” he added in the study published in the Friday issue of Sleep magazine. The study followed the nightly habits of some 15,659 college and high school students and found those who frequently went to bed after midnight had a 24 percent higher risk of depression than those who slept before 10∶00 pm. Night owls also ran a 20 percent higher risk of battling suicidal thoughts, the study added. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine remends that teenagers should sleep at least nine hours or more a night. Those who went to bed before 10∶00 pm reported they slept on average about eight hours and 10 minutes. But that amount of sleep dropped for those in bed after midnight. And teenagers who slept five hours or less a night were 71 percent more likely to suffer depression and 48 percent more at risk of being suicidal, the study said.“It is a mon belief and societal expectation that teenagers do not need as much sleep as those younger, yet studies suggest that teenagers may actually require more sleep,” said Gangwisch.“Studies have found that teenagers do not go to bed early enough to make up for earlier school start time, which has been shown to be associated with significant sleep deprivation (剝奪).” 5.Which of the following phrases can replace the underlined words “feel on top of the world” in Paragraph 1? A.Overe many difficulties. B.Feel too sleepy. C.Be independent. D.Feel very good. 6.Who run the highest risk of depression and being suicidal? A.Teenagers who sleep before 10 pm. B.Teenagers who get to school at 9 am. C.Teenagers who have less than five hours’ sleep. D.Teenagers who go to bed at midnight and get up at 6 am. 7.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Studies show that teenagers may need as much sleep as those younger. B.It is found that earlier school start time contributes to teenagers’ severe lack of sleep. C.James Gangwisch believes that lack of sleep is the main risk factor for youngsters’ depression. D.The American Academy of Sleep suggests that teenagers should sleep at least eight hours a night 8.What is the main idea of the passage? A.Enough sleep can cure depression. B.Enough sleep is important for people. C.Youngsters should not be made to go to school too early. D.Youngsters may suffer depression due to a lack of sleep. Various reasons might account for pedestrians to run traffic lights. Some people believe it is not against traffic laws and won’t be fined because so many people do it together.Others may argue that traffic lights are not arranged scientifically,so that they have to wait too long before they can cross the road. In my opinion, the jaywalkers should be severely punished. Most important of all, people should be educated to obey laws from childhood.Start out small and develop a good sense and habit of observing laws.Only by improving people’s safety and law awareness can we create a harmonious society.- 1.請仔細(xì)閱讀文檔,確保文檔完整性,對于不預(yù)覽、不比對內(nèi)容而直接下載帶來的問題本站不予受理。
