Calls and e-mails came from as far away as the Upper Peninsula and Arizona as well as Oakland and Macomb counties, offering Laurie Crouch, who uses a wheelchair because of multiple sclerosis(硬化癥), everything from dogs to money, such as that from Jason Daly of Roseville who said, “I would like to buy her a new dog.” A story about the death of Crouch’s pet, Gooch, was printed on the front page of Macomb Daily. Crouch said a groomer tied Gooch up with a collar, and then she and a man sat on the dog to trim its nails.Gooch died after one claw was trimmed. Crouch yelled at the groomer to stop when she saw Gooch was struggling to breathe, but she said she was ignored. “If I could have walked, I would have put my hands on her and pulled her off my dog and physically stopped her, but I can’t do that .” Gooch was not a trained service animal, but naturally helped Crouch by picking up things for her. “This case is absolute animal abuse(虐待), ”Larry Obrecht, division manager of the Oakland County Animal Shelter in Auburn Hills, said. People who read the story contacted Oakland Press to offer help. A message, from Rebecca Amett of Giggles N Wiggles Puppy Rescue in Roseville, said, “We have puppies to donate…and want to help the young woman who lost her service dog.” “When Gooch was with me I was happy , ”Crouch said, “ I think I can be happy again but no animal can replace Gooch. There’s never going to be another Gooch out there but I think I will find a dog that can bring me joy again.” 31.What does the passage mainly tell us? A.A disabled woman’s service dog. Ⅳ. Boys and girls, We high school students do have some growing pains, but we can get rid of them correctly and wisely. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ 課時作業(yè)(二十四) Ⅰ.1.C 考查冠詞用法。 3.B come/be close to/near to(doing) sth. turn up出現(xiàn),把……調(diào)大一些;go back 回去;blow out 吹滅燈火,輪胎爆裂;die down逐漸減弱。 6. 7.D 從but… 故選A。 17. 26. A 因為下文說accelerate my writing,說明the finishing time“接近,臨近”了。 27. B due to 說明原因。 of which可用作定語,但必須在legs前加the。 29. 從文章第二段…everything from dogs to money, such as that from Jason Daly of Roseville who said,“I would like to buy her a new dog.” Ⅳ. One possible version: Boys and girls, We high school students do have some growing pains, but we can get rid of them correctly and wisely. First, some of us are upset about our body shapes and looks. It’s unnecessary and it’s not important at all. We needn’t care about it. It is one’s inner beauty that matters. Second, we sometimes seem to be misunderstood by our teachers, parents and classmates. Facing this, we can find a proper time to have a heart-to-heart talk with them, trying to remove the misunderstanding. Some of us have fewer friends. I think being open-minded and friendly will do you good. Third, we may fall behind others, which makes us stressed. Actually we can encourage ourselves to work efficiently, full of determination. Last, some of us don’t have much pocket money, so they feel unhappy. Isn’t it strange? So long as we have some, that’s enough. And we can learn to spend money! That’s all. Thank you. 111- 1.
